COURSE DESCRIPTION
This half day seminar course is designed for General Industry
participants, (maintenance, safety and health professionals, and
management personnel). This workshop familiarizes the participant with
various types of common machinery and the related safety hazards. The
course enables participants to recognize hazards such as those created
by points of operations, rotating parts and flying chips, and provides
options to achieve abatement.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers the training and operating requirements for powered
industrial trucks in general industry workplaces. Safety topics include
training program implementation, operator selection, training, testing
and permitting inspection procedures, work safety practices, retention
of training and maintenance records, and identification of types of
powered industrial trucks. Occupational health topics include
information on carbon monoxide, ventilation controls, personal
protective equipment, and emergency eye flush and shower facilities.
Resources and sample documents will be provided to assist attendees with
implementing a powered industrial truck program in their workplace. This
training session will also provide an overview of common exercises used

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Attendees from both the construction and general industry sector will
gain an insight of the process and procedures a MIOSHA compliance
officer follows while conducting a workplace inspection and how to
respond to MIOSHA citations. Topics covered include inspection types,
employer/employee rights and responsibilities, and penalty reduction
factors. This program will assist students in preparing for an
inspection and students will work through a sample citation. Students
will be provided with hands-on exercises to reinforce the principles
that are discussed in the course.

Many MIOSHA standards require employers to provide employees with
training. This course will provide suggestions and ideas for creating
and conducting effective workplace health and safety training.
Strategies that work best for adult learners will be discussed including
the use of activities to make training both fun and effective. This
class is designed for anyone responsible for developing and conducting
training. The “hands-on” activities will provide an opportunity for
participants to practice the skills learned.
Industrial Laser Safety

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Currently no MIOSHA standards exists regulating industrial laser use
besides the duty of employers to protect their employees from the
possibility of injury or illness. This class is designed to provide
Michigan employers with a basic understanding of the requirements they
will need to meet in order to protect their employees and eliminate
laser safety and health hazards. This class will review the safety and
health hazards commonly associated with industrial laser applications
and usage, classifications, nominal hazard zones, laser officer
responsibilities, training and guarding, MIOSHA compliance requirements,
and other applicable consensus standards.
